Marianne Harman

Marianne Harman is a Certified Pilates Instructor and has her Masters in Clinical Exercsie Physiology.

Marianne Harman is a Pilates instructor and mentor with over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry. She is the founder of Wellness Adventure Retreats, an international retreat company designed to help you explore the world, connect to self and community, and renew your mind, body, and spirit.

Marianne formerly founded Blacksburg Pilates where she created a thriving Pilates community in the Blacksburg, Virginia area. Since leaving Blacksburg, Marianne has returned part-time to the Charlottesville area and spends the rest of the time leading retreats through her business.

Marianne began her STOTT PILATES® training in 2003. She quickly developed a passion for Pilates and its ability to both strengthen the body and support recovery from injury. With a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, Marianne brings a thoughtful, methodical approach to her teaching. She especially enjoys using Pilates to help clients improve posture, restore balance, and move with greater ease.

Marianne specializes in therapeutic and corrective exercise, athletic performance, and general fitness. She has worked with clients of all ages and abilities—from professional athletes to active older adults.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as a Functional Movement Specialist. Marianne is also a certified Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist, helping clients reduce pain and improve movement efficiency. In addition to her Pilates and personal training work, she holds certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in Group Exercise and from Spinning®.
