Amanda Liscouski

Pilates Instructor

Amanda Liscouski is a certified Pilates mat instructor with additional training on Reformer, Arc and Chair in The Posture Method: A Functional-Based Training Approach to Pilates.

Amanda first discovered Posture Studio in 2015 as a client seeking to stabilize hyper-mobile joints and relieve hip, back, and shoulder pain. Pilates quickly became a lifeline. As a professional dancer and teacher, she was amazed by Pilates' ability to support fluid movement through strength, control, and precision.

Inspired by her own experience, Amanda began studying with Carla Shifflett and pursued further training in the therapeutic application of Pilates. She completed BASIβ„’ Pilates Mat Certification and continued her education through Balanced Bodyβ„’ coursework in the Reformer, Tower, and Chair. Amanda continues to deepen her understanding of movement through ongoing study, practice, and teaching.

Amanda has taught ballet, modern, and contemporary dance in the Charlottesville area since 2006 and currently directs her own local dance performance group. Her extensive background in dance gives her a unique understanding of movement, body awareness, and performance, making her especially passionate about working with dancers and those seeking greater ease and confidence in movement.

Before transitioning fully into movement education, Amanda spent more than a decade in software test engineering. Today, she combines her analytical mindset with her love of movement to help clients better understand their bodies and develop efficient, sustainable movement patterns through Pilates.

Amanda brings warmth, lightness, and curiosity to her teaching. She believes movement should be both challenging and enjoyable, and loves helping clients discover greater strength, resilience, and joy in the way they move.

Outside the studio, Amanda enjoys performing and collaborating with Charlottesville's vibrant arts community and spending time with friends and family in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
